Dora Restaurant - Buenos Aires

Came for dinner at recommendation of hotel concierge. Great service, attentive staff. Old world style, very traditional. The food is very good and tasty, but the portions are very big and we could not finish it. An enjoyable experience dining here.

Dora is the traditional downtown restaurant specializing in Spanish / Seafood food. Great service by experienced waitresses, the way it used to be 20-30 years ago

If you are looking for a fancy restaurant this is not the place as it remains old style. If you instead are looking for Spanish food or good fish, you will also find great service a very decent wine list and great value for the experience.Do not hesitate to recommend it and look forward to going again.Most of the main dishes are to share, waiters would tell you but just in case ask in advance in order to avoid asking for too much food.

Choice for dinner of a colleague so met him there with another associate. From the outside nothing special at all. Inside as well basic decor and on the night (Friday) a bit crowded. But upon being seated service was efficient and not obtrusive. Had roasted peppers as a starter, colleagues had the seafood salad. They indicated their choice as very good, mine though admittedly nothing fancy was also very good and nicely done, not overdone. I chose the swordfish steak which was excellent, probably the best I have had. Same theme, nothing flashy or fancy, just the steak along with a green salad and some paprika potatoes, but the fish was perfectly done and portion sizes just right. Will return when back next time, not to impress anyone with the decor but just for a well done simple meal with professional service.

The place looks like an old Trattoria, they used to have over 300 hams ( jamon crudo)hanging from the ceiling. Please do not forget to try the Centolla salad appetizer (Alaskan King Crab of ARGENTINA), fried calamaretti (fried baby squid), delicious Pulpo a la gallega (Octopus Galician style) and the Rabas ( fried calamari rings in a light tempura batter). Fresh merluza negra a la plancha (Hacke) not to be missed. Good wine list with moderate prices.
