Umamido Bailli - Brussels

We had a great experience at Umamido Leuven! The Ramen tasted very rich, the kimchi was to die for and the pork was cooked to perfection. We even went back later to share another bowl of the goodness!

About Umamido Leuven.... worst Umamido experience ever. normally we Always go in antwerp. Last weekend in Leuven we took pork buns and gyoza's for appetizer. The buns were cold and the meat was all cooked out. terrible. the gyoza's were ok. Then we ordered the chefs ramen. Compared to our other visits the bowls were extremely empty. Normally we get 3 pieces of pork, in Leuven we only got 1 wich was cooked out. There was almost no broth in the bowl. Also the other toppings were very poor some onions, kimchi and halve an egg and in low quantity. On top, they used roquette ?? as topping...very strange... When we told the owner the quantity and quality was very low in comparison with other shops, they said they know it... that's all. No sorry, no compensation. When we showed our loyalty card for stamps, the didn't even know it. I left with a very bad feeling....Umamido Leuven... never again for me...

My husband and I went to eat there on their opening day in Leuven. The service was okay and the food was good. For us, we both found the miso in the 1 vegetarian and 1 chicken ramen to be one of the best we’ve had, the noodles in the ramen is ridiculously good but we were a bit disappointed with the little amount of toppings served with the meal. We’ve tried other ramen restaurants where when served the whole bowl is filled with different colourful toppings and varying textures to enhance the eating experience. But, today for instance the vegetarian ramen was served with very soft tofu, rucola and one additional item that neither of us knew what it was. My husband was disappointed that for €14 his ramen had regular boiled-like chicken pieces and nothing more special was given, ie. crispy chicken. In addition, we saw on the bill that there is only a €0,20 difference between our vegetarian and chicken ramen? That price difference didn’t seem to make such sense. Overall, the noodle and broth were super good but i feel until they make the meal worth the price they’re charging, we will be more inclined to visit other ramen restaurants that provide a bit more with their food for a cheaper price. In total our 2 apple juices and ramen cost us about €36. We have eaten at another ramen location in Leuven where we had ramen, sushi, 2 drinks and an appetizer for the same price. I still recommend to try this location once, perhaps when they’re a bit more established in Leuven they’ll provide more.

I feel sad and disappointed. I ordered a bowl Vegetarian Ramen. It is a cold winter today. I thought it would be a “warm(hot soup” but it is not warm at all, honestly. About the tofu, it is cold in my ramen. Vegetables/Food not generous enough and not worth for what you paid (16€ .

Suddenly another kind of chicken in the windows, very sorry, because the crispy chicken before that was cattle hotter and had more taste.
