This is the best home cooked food around. We drive from Bourg, La. To Mel's just to eat there, we love it so much.

I was thrilled to find out that not only were they open on New Year's Day, the special was cabbage, black eyed peas, ham, and cornbread! (Must-haves for these Cajuns! I called in an order of three specials for take out, knowing the drive time and pickup would push the limits of my 30-minute lunch break.
