Hippo's Mexican Burgers And More

We came across this restaurant while we were out looking at Halloween lights. The service was very poor. We had never been there before and found the menu to be confusing. The cashier was not helpful in explaining things. We were disappointed to find that they did not have fountain drinks or tea available, probably because they had cleaned up before we arrived. We do not drink soda, so the bottled options they had were not suitable for us. The burgers and fries were excellent, but the burrito was dry and came without salsa. The staff did not check on us during our meal, and about 30 minutes before closing, they turned off the lights for about 3 minutes to signal closing time. We spent $50 for 4 people, without any drinks, ordering 1 burrito, 1 torta with fries, and 2 burgers with fries. Despite the delicious burgers and fries, we will not be returning to this restaurant.

I was disappointed with my steak burrito as it mostly consisted of small, chewy steak bits mixed in with refried beans and rice. For over 8 dollars, I was expecting better value and a larger portion. The taste and size reminded me of a Taco Bell bean burrito. The red and green sauce were bland and overall, I was not impressed. I was hoping for an authentic experience but instead found the food to be mediocre and overpriced. I am unsure if I would return to this restaurant.

We absolutely love this place and get their food often. We especially love their steak tacos and the red and green sauces that come with them. Whenever I stop in to pick up the food, they are extremely friendly. They are a great, hole-in-the-wall place:good food, good service, local, family business. I would recommend them as an excellent go to place.

I ordered the steak tacos, but there was hardly any steak in them and a lot of onions. They no longer come with guacamole. The service was good, but the food was mediocre.

Excellent mom pop place. A great chance to support a local business with a from scratch feel and home cooked meal feel.
