As a coffee lover East One is a rarity that hits all marks. Their house roasted coffees are as good or better than any in New York, the dishes are exceptionally well prepared, the service is speedy and friendly, and the dining room is comfortably hip. Dont miss this place if you have the opportunity to go...and order the pancakes!
Great ambience, delicious food and good value. Coffee and oj are amazing. Wish they would hide some of their roasting coffee tubs a bit more when the eatery is open (basically, there are giant stacks of large plastic trash bins and Tupperware blocking the street view), as it is a little bit of a buzz kill to see that.
I have been to East One over 20x and it is simple one of the beat overall experiences when you want to brunch. Some items to try, Duck Hash, Butternut squash salad, and the Burger are my favorite items.. Wait and a side on pancakes. Who doesnt like pancakes?!?!? Worth a try for everyone.
TL;DR Rude front of house staff, decent food, good coffee. So originally booked a table for five guests for weekend brunch. Adjusted the booking that morning for three people as two guests couldn’t make it. Arrived at the restaurant eight minutes after the booking time. Then had to wait for five minutes while the front of house staff dealt with other people ahead of us in line. When we finally got to the front, the host then tried to tell us we were fifteen minutes late. After correcting them, they then said they had already given our table away and we had to wait. The response was pretty unsatisfying as we were less than ten minutes late and the restaurant had made no attempt to contact us. We then had to wait a further thirty four minutes before we were seated. The host also managed to seat other similar sized parties ahead of us. The food itself is the usual decent brunch fair for a moderately upscale New York City restaurant and the coffee is decent, but not outstanding given the typical high quality available in the area.
