They also have an amazing happy hour before 7 PM with great deals on drinks and empanadas, which are so crispy and delicious that I sometimes just come here to drink and snack on them. And that’s why I’ve put on some weight! Seriously, it’s just that good. The location is on a quiet, somewhat rundown stretch of Grand just past Atlantic Ave. Wait, I do have one significant complaint—and it’s kind of a big deal. They are CLOSED ON SUNDAYS. I understand that everyone in the restaurant business needs a day off, but I wish they would choose Monday or Tuesday instead. My whole household always craves Puerto on Sundays. It’s the perfect day for their food, but we can’t get it. Nope. They’re closed. I really hope they consider introducing a Sunday brunch. Yes, please! Make it happen!

The restaurant was fantastic! The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars is because the seating for larger groups is somewhat limited, and the food portions could be a tad bigger. The plantain chips with garlic sauce were absolutely addictive. Every dish looked just like the photos on the website, and everything tasted incredible. The sangria was quite strong, but it could have used a little less ice for perfection.

The empanadas are delightful too; they're filled with light tomato and ground beef, packed with flavor. I also really enjoyed the chicken soup! Some people overlook chicken soup, but there's definitely an art to making it well, and Puerto Viejo excels at it! They include carrots and potatoes, which make it feel heartier and taste even better. I love it! And don't forget to order a lemonade – it's fresh and way better than any store-bought option! I can’t wait to dine in at the restaurant. Until then, treat yourself to some delicious food from here!

This restaurant is consistently excellent. They serve authentic tostones, and everything is cooked to perfection and well-seasoned, with generous portions. The pernil, pollo guisado, and empanadas are all incredibly delicious.

Terrible experience! I would recommend Quezada instead. The prices are too high, and the food made me feel ill.
