Mama Rao Cucina Italiana - Brooklyn

Mama Rao exceeds all my expectations when I think of Italian dining. My stepdad told me about this gem when he worked on a climate system for them. Thanks, Dad! I'm so happy to have visited and experienced the outstanding quality of the food, wine, and professionalism. The owner treats everyone like family and is attentive to any need or request.

We celebrated my father's birthday at Mama Rao, choosing the restaurant based on its positive reviews and traditional tablecloths, knowing my parents would appreciate the ambiance. We were not disappointed. Every dish we ordered, from the salad to the cheesecake, was delicious. The restaurant was quite quiet on a sunny Saturday afternoon, which allowed for attentive service. The staff made us feel very welcome, and I would definitely recommend it to friends. Additionally, there's an Italian specialty shop next door that offers fresh pasta and cured meats.

I visited this restaurant with a large group and was pleased to find that they could accommodate us on short notice, which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, our server had limited English skills, so when we had questions about the menu, he couldn't provide clear explanations. The penne pasta was cooked well but a bit too salty for my taste. Additionally, it was an extra $8 for just three shrimp, which felt a bit excessive. I didn't try dessert myself, but I heard it was the highlight of the meal for others in our group.

The food was fantastic, and we received a warm welcome from everyone. We shared some laughs with the owner and his father. It was a wonderful family experience, and we even enjoyed some ice cream afterward. We will definitely be returning!

The service was outstanding, and the food was even better. The staff is the friendliest you'll find in Brooklyn. When I say the food is incredible, I mean it is absolutely amazing!
