And when there is a label, they often end up charging you a vastly different price at the checkout counter, I can only assume that this is on purpose given how many times it’s happened to me (5+ . Today I went for tomatoes at $1.99/lb and was rung up at $5.49/lb. Once I pointed it out, no issue, but given that this is a regular occurrence I’d suggest you keep very close eyes on the labeled price vs. register. Or just go somewhere else like Trader Joe’s or Wegman’s, which aren’t terribly far.
On several occasions I have made it home to discover that the item I just bought is expired. Most recently, I purchased some chicken that was supposedly still fresh and let 's just say I had to toss it out immediately. I 'm pretty sure they are relabeling the expiration on the meat. To top it off, they are way overpriced. People still shop here because it 's the nearest grocery store, but I rather go out of my way to a more reliable grocery store.
I like the location and I’ve been coming to this store since before the pandemic. But over and over I have an issue with expired goods that are still on the shelf and I accidentally buy. Or I bought chicken meatballs yesterday (Saturday) from salad bar and says they are still good for two days but they clearly went bad, terrible smell /taste
I like the staff the are friendly and nice. And the different kind of food stuff.
City Acres is a decent spot to grab some basics if you live nearby. The produce is always good they have a decent selection of all the staples. It's a bit overpriced and most things don't even have price labels so checking out can be confusing.
