Bud the Spud - Brockville

We have driven past this roadside stop for years without stopping, but this time we made a planned visit to try the fish in Brockville and chips in Maitland. When we arrived at 2:30, there were a few cars parked in the lot. My wife was able to place our order quickly, but it took about fifteen minutes for our fries to be ready. When she finally returned to the car with our order, I found them to be lacking compared to our usual spot, Gaetan's. The fries were a pale shade of golden brown, not the usual crispier brown we are used to, and they had a somewhat artificial flavor. It seemed like they may have been frozen, although I cannot be certain. It appears that they only prepare one order at a time, so we will not be stopping here again and will continue driving instead.

The best fries in Ottawa and definitely worth the drive. The restaurant enforces social distancing with tables set six meters apart. I tried the JUMBO fries with salt and vinegar, and they were deliciously crispy and perfectly seasoned. The generous amount of salt and vinegar was evenly distributed throughout the fries, which I personally enjoyed. Highly recommended!

We tried placing an order over the phone, but the young girl kept us on hold for over 20 minutes. We finally placed our order, but when we arrived at the restaurant, they had completely messed it up. Their customer service is always disappointing.

No social distancing promoted here! allow people to congregate and eat in the parking lot. causes a risk for local people as groups from outside the city.

Have eaten at this Red Caboose numerous times over the last few years and the quality of the food is outstanding, always fresh and tasty. Prices are very reasonable...
