I sampled a variety of dishes—here’s my breakdown: - **Buffalo Chicken Dip**: AMAZING! It comes with generous chunks of smoked chicken, a flavorful sauce, and plenty of cheese. It's a substantial appetizer. - **Fried Pickles**: Also fantastic! This is one of the few places where you can find this classic appetizer done right. - **Jalapeño Poppers**: Good, but not my favorite I’ve ever had. - **Ribs**: THE BEST EVER. They practically fall off the bone—absolute perfection. - **Baked Beans**: Delicious! You can tell they’re not from a can. They strike the perfect balance of sweetness—unlike many others that can be overly sweet. **Sauces**: - **Firecracker**: A perfect blend of spicy with a hint of sweetness. - **North Carolina Vinegar**: Ideal for those who enjoy a bit of a twist. They offer a total of five sauces, but these two stood out to me the most. They also have a sweet Jack Daniel's honey mustard sauce, all of which are made in-house. Now, for some constructive feedback on the **Mac and Cheese**: it definitely needs improvement. It reminded me too much of mashed potatoes with gravy (which they unfortunately ran out of), and it was far too dry. It lacked the ooey gooey cheese that is essential for great mac and cheese. I would 110% return— the meats are undoubtedly the highlight, as you’d expect from a place centered around grilling. The management is friendly and welcoming. I would recommend everything except the poppers and the mac and cheese. Thank you, Boss Hoggins, for the amazing food and even better leftovers!

We were in town for Brocks Gap Heritage Day and had never been to the area before. We found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out. It's set in a beautiful location and the restaurant itself is so cute and has a charm to it. We were immediately greeted by a server who told us to sit anywhere we'd like. The service was really splendid at Boss Hoggins. Our waitress was amazing and very helpful. My husband asked if the smoked meatloaf has onions and neither the server or the owner were sure, the owner actually came up to us a few minutes later and said he called his wife who makes the meatloaf to check! Excellent customer service! The food was just as good as the service. Everything is homemade and tastes like it! All the meat was just so tender. We decided to get to-go meals to take back to our hotel room for dinner. It even tastes great reheated. I also appreciate that they make their sauces homemade! They had a great selection of sauces from sweet, tangy, spicy, vinegar, and even mustard sauce. The prices were also great and very affordable!

First visit to this place today. Stop in looking for something quick. Didn't expect much. WOW What a find. Very friendly staff, the best hush puppies I have had in forever. Ordered the combo an fries it was great fall off the bone ribs. Could not finish it. Large portion. Girl friend had the brisket wrap, loved it, she said the baked beans were out of this world. Worth a trip.

Brisket and pulled pork was excellent. All the sides and sauces are made from scratch. Owner is very friendly and courteous. Some of the best BBQ around. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out.

Found this place passing through, and it was worth the stop. We got the hush puppies appetizer, three meat platter, pulled pork, beans, potatoes, and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious. The firecracker sauce on the ribs had a great flavor, and the beans have a little bit of sweetness to them. The hush puppies were the best part of the meal, they had a really nice golden crunchy outside. The four stars instead of five (because the food and service are worth 5)was because of a couple cleanliness issues. There were a lot of flies and there was a hair in one of the dishes. But neither of those will deter me.
