Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao-manhattan

Great xiao long baos that are very soupy. The bao skin is a bit thicker than other places though. They also have noodles and various appetizers.

First off, there wasn't enough cheese. The ideal cheese should be stretchy and gooey, so that when you lift a slice, it pulls up about 12 inches before snapping. Here, it only stretched about 3 inches. The toppings were sparingly added. In the New York pizza joints I remember, the toppings fully covered the pie rather than being used as a mere garnish. The crust also lacked its own distinct flavor; brushing it with garlic butter before baking could make a real difference. On the plus side, the prices were reasonable. If you're in the area, it might be worth a visit, but I wouldn’t feel a strong urge to return anytime soon—unless I was curious to see if there were any improvements.

We discovered this restaurant by chance, and we absolutely love it! If you’re in the mood for a calzone, you won’t find a better one anywhere else—and they’re HUGE, perfect for sharing with two people. My favorite extra is definitely the garlic knots. While they do offer meals as well, we always make a special trip to this place whenever we’re craving pizza!
