I lived in Addis Ababa from 1972—1977 — before, during, after the overthrow of The Emperor by the Derg. The same regime is sadly repeating its failures-of-the-past…now in Ukraine. Awash is a special place in Ethiopia....and it's a special place in New York. I look forward to returning to both. Thank you all for a memorable d … – show
Quiet until 830 pm when it picks up on the weekends. Could be more traditional in atmosphere and music. The food was not as spicy or flavorful as other Ethiopian restaurants I've been to in the country. The prices were relatively high for the family platter.
Good food and great service. Good experience. Fast!
This was a first time trying Ethiopian food and it was so good! I love eating with my hands and really enjoyed the injera!
When we tried to make a reservation, they said they didn’t take reservations for parties of 4. When we got there the attendant waiting outside said they were full and told us if we texted him with our party number, he would text us back when they had a free table. An hour went by and we never received a text, therefore we are somewhere else. We never ended up receiving a text at all and it seems that this was just a strategy for him to get rid of us.
