I noticed that there were no seats available inside the café, but there were some outside. I was tempted by the Booja Booja ice cream, which I couldn't find anywhere else, but I was worried it would melt before I got home. Some items were a bit pricey, but I think the prices are in line with other similar stores. The lady who served me was friendly. I would definitely visit again for the product variety. The store is lovely with a good selection of products, but the café is very small and had a limited variety of cakes when I visited. It didn't live up to the other photos I had seen. However, the lemon cake and hot chocolate were both enjoyable.
In August 2017, Oats relocated to a new location on Fore Street. The establishment is quite lovely and offers a variety of products including items in shop cabinets, sweet treats, toiletries, cleaning products, and organic fruits and vegetables. While primarily a health food store, they also have a small café section with a few tables where guests can enjoy tea, coffee, cakes, breakfast options, and light lunches such as hummus salad, sandwiches, and soup - all vegetarian, some vegan options are available. I opted for the hummus salad which was a good value at £4, featuring homemade hummus and interesting salads.
Now I'm not sure we went on a bad day/time, but oats were very disillusioning. according to good reviews, my partner and I had high hopes for a good vegan meal. The mini-health grocery store is good, with a decent range of products. The café, however, was practically not existent, with a single glass cabinet that was about five cakes (two of them were vegan; and a limp, boring, day-old salad. The cakes were nothing impressive, and the only employee there seemed incredibly boring and not disturbed by us. (We eat in Curious Kitchen, a short walk away. It is not vegetarian, but has a few marked vegan meals on the menu that proved to be very good.
A small family run café shop. Mostly vegan. We went as a large group for a pre Christmas lunch. The food was delicious and plenty of it! This is currently the only vegetarian eatery in Torbay.
