Desi - Bristol

Desi is a fascinating and trendy restaurant that combines the flavors of traditional Indian cuisine with the small plate concept of Spanish tapas. The fusion of Indian taste and Spanish portion sizes works seamlessly here, especially given the incredibly affordable prices (only £70 for a meal for 5 people), making it easy to come back for more. The decor is striking and exudes a retro Indian atmosphere. The dishes are delicious, satisfying, and made with fresh ingredients. The space is cozy, so it's advisable to make a reservation in advance. Overall, highly recommended.

Two weeks ago, my friend and I visited this restaurant. I have been meaning to write a review because it was one of the best meals I had during my visit to England. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I believe the owner also served as our waiter, and he was one of the kindest gentlemen we encountered. He made us feel very welcome. If I ever return to visit, I would definitely dine here again.

I decided to come to this restaurant on a whim the other night. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the small tapas-sized portions, which allowed me to save room for the most delicious Rose-flavored Kulfi I have ever tasted, along with some Indian sweets and a cocktail for my friend. Even the rice was exceptional. I would have given it 5 stars, but they still use plastic straws, which is a bit disappointing.

Desi is a real hidden gem of a restaurant, it serves some of the best Indian food in Bristol. I don't understand why other reviewers have complained about prices and portions, the portions are small because it's a tapas style menu and the prices reflect that. We got 2 samosas, 2 pakoras, 2 different curries (both with rice), 2 chapatis, 2 poppadoms and 3 dips delivered to our door for £20! And it was all delicious!

Desi curry is probably one of the best curries I've had in years. Absolutely delicious. Starter, main and rice for under £10. And it isn't swimming in cooking oil like most other curry's out there. The Lamb Special excellent. Chicken tandoor is also an excellent dish.
