The Lab Bar & Restaurant - Brisbane

As we arrived and waited at the door as requested by a sign and three waiters saw us arrive but then ignored us. I expect more from a five star hotel. However waitress was then very attentive and fantastic hot breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed by...my husband and myself. Also part of a dine in package which was great value. If you tweaked your customer care this would be of been an excellent review.

Have been to The Lab many times before, staying in the Treasury accommodation. It has always been a wonderful experience. This time, we ventured there for a Sunday breakfast to celebrate my father's birthday. Absolutely disappointed to say the least. Staff were gruff and...had very very little customer rapport. We were hurried from the start. Meals came out in the wrong order, some were incorrect and everything was served at once we had mountains of food in front of us and could barely move anything anywhere. Some continental items were delivered after the hot items and whilst we WERE ALL still eating our first courses, the hot meals were brought out and plonked on the table to get cold. The timing of service of food was awful and as said, right from the start, we felt like we were being hurried as well as fobbed off. As I was the one who made the suggestion to breakfast at The Lab, as prior experiences have been fantastic, I felt terrible that my Dad's was ruined by unfriendly service and ridiculous, disorganised, hurried meal service. Just DON'T pre-order as was suggested to us when booking, as EVERYTHING will arrive at once to the table.

I went for the Chandon hours high tea . Happy with the wine selection . Coffee/tea, juices and soft drinks are also included . The table was so sticky that you had to rip all items off the table to pick them up ....I was advised that it was due to sanitisers used on the tables . Perhaps some elegant white tablecloths would have solved that problem . The food was a disappointment . One small three tiered tray to be shared between two people. Sandwiches were the highlight for me . Really enjoyed them . Scones were tasty but very crumbly . Quiches were very ordinary . Sweet desserts were very chocolate based and too rich . Some lighter tasting desserts should have been added . For the price charged , the food was not enough. I noted that many patrons were drinking lots of the unlimited alcohol but a high tea should be all about those food delicacies . Finally , there was alot of banging by staff behind the drinks counter preparing coffees which was very distracting .

Recently had my baby shower here and enjoyed an amazing high tea. The service provided by the staff was better than any other high tea I have been too in Brisbane. They came around plenty of times offering beverages and for the price there was...definitely plenty of food. Love the old school look of the Treasury. Make sure you get your ticket validated for free parking under the Treasury if you are going to high tea

As visitors to Brisbane we were taken to the Lab for High Tea and what a great few hours to while away the time. The variety and quality of the high tea was just great as well as the choice of sparkling wines and then...to end the day a wonderful coffee. Would highly recommend it to anybody to try this out.
