Contribuiți la feedbackAs locals in West End this food is a little more Authentic, however its not my pick to visit often. I've visited a few times with a small group and with my spouse and I've enjoyed the company better than the food. But its not...horrible food , just average.
I’ve eaten in many Thai places but the food here is one of the worst. Not much taste at all in the Tom kha. for a small bowl of rice???? And the waitress doesn’t know anything. Very disappointed as I’ve gone here based on...past reviews.
The Coconut Prawns at Soi are always a delight. I tried the Beef Mussaman for the first time and found it to be very good, although not quite brilliant. The portion was huge and the dish was aromatic and fragrant. I have no complaints. Brunch on a Saturday at Soi is a good value, comparable to a large breakfast at a standard café in Australia. My partner had the Chicken Green Curry, which was excellent in both size and flavor. Soi offers several whole Barramundi dishes that I am eager to try as they sound amazing. The service at Soi remains attentive and friendly. Despite the delicious food and great service, it was still relatively quiet during brunch, indicating that many people in Brisbane have yet to discover this hidden gem on Hardgrave Road.
I went to this restaurant with my friend for an early dinner and we were the only customers present. A few Uber deliveries were coming in and out. We were surprised when a cockroach passed by us, but we tried to ignore it. Unfortunately, my companion spotted it too and was not pleased. The Thai radio playing at a loud volume added to the uncomfortable ambiance. I asked the staff to lower the volume so we could chat comfortably over our meal. We started with a tasty vegetarian curry puff and my friend enjoyed her fried rice. However, my vegetarian tofu stir fry with peanut sauce had raw vegetables which made it hard to eat. I left most of the uncooked carrots on my plate. I spoke to the waitress about the issue, but she explained that they prefer to keep the vegetables raw to avoid them becoming soggy. I may give this restaurant another chance in the future, but for now, I will stick to the other Thai restaurants I know and love.
The first thing you notice is the refreshing interior design, a departure from the typical suburban Thai restaurants with their predictable royal purple decor, gold cutlery, tacky touristy graphics, and obligatory Buddha statue. This fresh approach is a welcome change. The menu did not disappoint either! One standout was the way our two appetizers were elegantly presented on a single wooden plate, showing a great attention to detail. The coconut prawns were delicious, and the roast duck with green vegetables was a simple and healthy delight, with just the right amount of chili heat. The coconut pink rice was a simple yet enjoyable dish that even kids would love. The service was attentive and friendly, and the prices were reasonable, not cheap, but also not expensive. The slight premium for freshly cooked dishes and great service is worth it, especially compared to city cafes. I also noticed they were popular for their UBER takeout service. Overall, well done Soi, we will definitely be returning!
