Café de Siam - Brisbane

The food is always nice here. We go a lot and they are always great with our kids. The food is always served quickly which is important with young kids in tow. I really like there red curry and entrees. They have a interesting mix of dishes.

Soooo good,we go here at least once a week! Favourite dishes pad ki mao, crispy duck larb and the banana pancake dessert.

This restaurant really is a mixed bag. Upon arrival the waiter was attentive, if a little saccharine. The table settings are a hodge podge of cheap retro pieces, it works ok, though is unfinished in parts. There were only 2 other tables of diners, yet we were sat right next to one of them with a bright light shining straight at us. I can't really give the ambience a good score as far as a couples visit goes. We ordered the mixed entree for starters to share, which was a shambles. It was a bizarre mix of items, and it didn't work at all. A bowl of sweet chilli sauce, a bowl of yogurt and honey, carrot and cucumber sticks, tough flavorless tofu that was fried to within an in of its life and some nuts. The roti was beautiful and perfectly cooked. I ordered the pineapple curry in hot which didn't disappoint, though you have to order rice extra which is painful. My husband ordered the chilli cha cha which had quite a nice flavour. The plates were massive and were all different shapes. We kept almost knocking them off the table because they took up every inch of space. Cafe De Siam is BYO which is great. I feel like they're trying to do a modern and interesting twist to the usual thai dishes, but are only somewhat succeeding. Our visit was ok, but I would try somewhere else next time.

Went with 2 others for after works dinner... 6:30pm, maybe 3 other tables with customers..The other two I was with got their meals, and they had finished their meal and I had not yet received mine. No one came to apologize for the delay. After 45 minutes, I eventually went up to ask about the meal and if it wasn't ready, to cancel it.. They literally said "well we are busy".. No apology, no remorse. I cancelled it. There were others there whom also had waited 59 minutes when told it was only going to be 20 minutes. Another lady also cancelled because of the long wait. In essence, I will never go there again, out of principle, as bad customer service cannot be rewarded, for very average food and high price. Worst customer service I have had in Years!!!!

Okay you really have to go here!!!!! I can honestly say this is the best thai in Brissie. The food is amazing, quick and always the same quality. Probably not the best place to go with a group, it's quite small. But for a quick catch up with friends a really good one.
