Cafe on the park - Brighton

We've been regular's at Preece's basically since they opened here, but won' t be back after todays experience. The worst I've ever been treated by anyone! The customer service was appalling to say the least, they messed up our order then instead of just apologising and fixing it they tried to make it seem like it was our fault, disgusting and infuriating! What they really need is a manager. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone ever again!! Zero stars is what they deserve if that was an option.

The wagu burger was excellent. The avo on toast $17 was very small yes, it was a small plate selection but for the price exceedingly overpriced. The chicken on sourdough was a dry chicken snits. Again, unattractive, unimaginative and far below the standard of this establishment in past years. The three female staff looked like and conducted themselves as if they would prefer to be in the front line in Ukraine rather than at work in this beautiful location.

We came in yesterday and ordered two breakfast wraps only to be told it couldn’t be done. Then tried to order the muffins and wanted scrambled eggs instead of a hard fried egg , nope couldn’t do that either.just ordered coffees then we had paid for them to be told we can do scrambled egg on toast .$26.00 later got scrambled egg in a ramekin with one piece of sourdough half cooked that was $13.00 not worth it and would not return .other cyclist tried to order other stuff but couldn’t do their order either, so unless the chef is either out of supplie or just plain lazy.

In August 2021 my youngest adult son and I enjoyed a pleasant day out at Shorncliffe, a coastal north-eastern suburb of Brisbane on the shore of Bramble Bay which is part of Moreton Bay. Our preferred means to get there was by Translink train. Having lived at Shorncilffe for a number of years, I have noted a number of changes to the place over time. The beach is still there along with Moora Park and the Shorncliffe Pier. The Pier is the starting point for the annual Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race at Easter and remains a stand out feature. There used to be a vibrant shopping hub on Pier Street in the 1960s and 1970s; however St Patrick’s College has utilised a keen “Monopoly Board” approach in buying up all of these establishments for its College needs over the years. Also lost, in the process are a number of food establishments in the area including the famous Seaview Hotel, now the Administration Centre for the College. The result of all this frenetic property activity is a shortage of places today to enjoy a bite to eat in this still charming seaside suburb. Thank goodness then for Preece’s on the Park, located at the end of Park Avenue, off Pier Avenue. Directly opposite is delightful Moora Park with its well spaced out trees and large green spaces including an elegant Rotunda and Moreton Bay and the Shorncliffe Pier in the background. Preece’s on the Park as our lunch spot was an easy choice for us with the limited food outlets available and it did not disappoint. We ordered our meal and drinks from a front counter and these were delivered when ready by the staff to our table. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and efficient. There is plenty of floor space between tables and there are ceiling fans. The place has many windows to let the breezes in on hot days. It seems to have been well designed with comfort in mind. If you are lucky enough to be there at the right time, there is even a small cosy alcove available where couples can dine with some privacy. Being at the seaside I felt a desire to have a fish and chip lunch and so I chose their battered Snapper with Chips with Salad, while my son decided to have a Cheeseburger and Chips. Both meals were well cooked and presented and tasted great. The Restaurant has a limited licence and so I was able to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine with my meal. However, a wide range of non alcoholic drinks is also available. After our enjoyable lunch experience at Preece’s we enjoyed a visit to Moora Park before returning to Shorncliffe Railway Station for the journey home.

Good friendly service and breakfast was an enjoyable experience. Bacon and eggs were well cooked and our request for extra hot coffee was met. Meals arrived in a timely manner and the venue has a nice relaxed atmosphere,
