Ethel's Kitchen - Brighton and Hove

Not being pork eaters it's really hard to find a good breko spot where you can walk out stuffed. You can here!! The breakfast is a delicate blend of moist potato croquettes with a hint of tarragon, eggs your choice, slow cooked toms, mushrooms, beans, Meat sausages, toast etc etc. The staff are really hip and friendly and the cakes on offer are all home made (not mass produced). Loads of teas on offer and other classic breko treats. This is a small but perfectly formed venue. I don't normally give 5 but we love it here. The name has changed but the place is the same. Parking on the street with cash or by phone. Park in the big tesco and walk for 5 mins....

Been here a few times for brunch and it has always been very good. Great selection of locally sourced produce, also a good tea selection with nice fresh mint tea. I would recommend the vege breakfast!

Went here for a birthday tea and although we arrived at 3:30 and they were shutting at 4:00 the staff were lovely and welcoming and promised that we wouldn't be rushed out to at bang on four. We were able to stay and enjoy wonderful tea made with proper tea leaves in proper sized teapots. Chocolate brownies, scones, soup and bakewells were all consumed and very very good indeed! Scones were warm, brownies incredibly chocolate-y and accompanied by good quality ice cream. Lovely calming atmosphere, very cosy. Will return!

What a gem in the local area! This is a must visit for anyone in hove that fancies a decent bite or a big slice of cake. We always love the food here, it's delicious, fresh, and always hits the spot! Favourites are the halloumi wrap and salad with chips, it's a got an onion chutney that is delicious. If you love cakes, try the almond orange cake, it's so good you'll be wondering when you come back for another slice. It's a lovely atmosphere, homely, friendly, fun and staff are attentive, always love a chat if it's not too busy and always cheery.

I come to Ethel's (I know it's changed names! at least once a week for a pot of tea and cake. Fabulous tea, pretty cups and saucers and homemade cakes. A really friendly, relaxed cafe.
