My party of four went to Hooper's for the early bird dinner the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. We were able to walk right in a get a table. It was a little cramped but not uncomfortable. For you land lovers, there are only fish and seafood options on the early bird menu. Long story short, my Manhattan Clam Chowder and Parmesan Crusted Tilapia were excellent. The chowder was clam filled and flavorful. The tilapia was light with a nice crispy top. Both fulfilled the standard of what they should be and then some. My dinner came with dessert but I took a piece of cheesecake to go. The whole meal was a great deal! The base price was around $18 with the clam chowder as an upgrade (the special only came with the soup of the day). Our server was friendly and efficient for the most part. It took a while to settle up but the dinner rush was just picking up at that point. Casual and quality. I look forward to many returns.
I will give this seafood an overall 4 stars, based on the service and food. I and a few friends came here on a Saturday night 30 minutes before closing. There was only a 2 minute wait time and the server was very friendly and attentive. We all started a cup with their infamous NE clam chowder, which was delicious but not the best I ever had. My entree was the baby lobsters and that was much more appetizing. My friends ordered the pasta and mussels dish and the fried seafood platter. They enjoyed it and had no complaints. I tried the mussels and they weren't bad, but again I have had better. Again, overall this was a great seafood experience and definitely worth the value. Check it out if you are ever in AC or in this small beach town.
We visit Hoopers mainly for the crabs. Excellent blue claw crabs with just the right amount of old bay. We did have one bad order of shrimp that was extremely chewy and impossible to eat. We've only gotten take out which is always very quick and not overly crowded.
LOVED it! The food was amazing, the service was attentive and excellent. The owner even came out to chat with us. Will be back next year.
Some of the best Manhattan Clam Chowder on the island! Friendly service and delicious king crab legs! Small little eatery, but charming with checkered table cloths and seaside decor. Service is always friendly, either on the take out side or dine-in. The menu is a little limited compared to another fresh seafood competitor on the island, though they do have more fresh fish in my opinion, as well as a children's menu. They deliver, though I have had a few mix ups here and there. Nothing that wouldn't keep me from returning.
