It was a unpleasant start to our meal. Despite my desire to leave, my companion was determined to try the Newfie steak sandwich he had seen on their website. Disappointingly, they no longer served it, so we settled for the gouda burger and sweet potato fries. The burger lacked gouda and was overpriced at $20. Although tasty, it was not worth the hefty price tag. I opted for the fish and poutine, which was decent but nothing special. The tartar sauce was delicious, but the fries seemed frozen and the gravy was lackluster. Our bill came close to $70 with tip, which included three beers. The staff were heard swearing loudly behind us, which was unprofessional and made it difficult to enjoy our meal. Overall, we felt that we could have made the same meal at home for a fraction of the cost. While we had been enjoying our time in Bridgewater, we will not be recommending this restaurant. There seemed to be a lack of balance between the staff being at ease or uneasy around customers, and we couldn't tell if it was because we were not locals. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
For all those looking at this place, they go somewhere else, but here. I mean, somewhere else. I have to say first that we are not restless or hard to please people. our visit here began with waiting at an entrance with an almost empty restaurant until finally a server. sat to us, almost surprised to see us standing there. we waited some time and a server came to ask if we have taken our beverage order from the other server. we said no, and they were very passiw aggressiv by saying that they would simply take it then, as they told the other server to do this, but obviously they did not, although we were sitting there. this very noticeable tension was unpleasant and involuntary. the decor was very nice, but the menu was very small. we placed our orders and were quickly distracted by the heavily over served locals (or who I suspect are natives as they refer to the server).) that was about 18 o'clock. on Tuesday. these men were so drunk and very strong over served that they walk and cursed throughout our evening meal. I thought the server would cut them off, but instead they scream and jog around with them. this caused a terrible culinary experience, especially for a place with children and other couples close by trying to enjoy a beautiful meal with hard earned money. our commands came and I must say that my fish was good. the steak that my partner ordered, however, had no similarity with a steak or any kind of meat. the steak was half fat, and the other half burned to a crack. I tried a piece and spit right back on my plate. everything I could taste was coal, and there was no season or a sign of a marinade everywhere. I felt openly bad that they eat it on the teller. the potatoes were dry, possibly yesterday, and the sweet was a frozen vegetable-Medley mixture logged with the water in which they were boiled. several other groups came in and waited to serve the door, but finally they left because no one came to welcome them. this was due to the unpleasant introductory arrangement of the dining room and the fact that the server were not where in itself or not to welcome others. we have paid the bill and have come out as soon as possible, not in a position to stand another minute of drunk and anxious chatter from the men. it was no surprise that the restaurant was empty and should have been a sign to run as far as possible. it did not seem to be administrative or supervisory in this facility, and showed the culinary experience. the whole thing was so terrible that I waited for bar rescue john taffer and cameraman to drive through the doors and turn off the place. as already said, they go somewhere else, but here, anywhere.
Got in around 7pm. Finally got our drinks (water) and menus at 7:35pm. Food came quickly but incorrect. Couldn't flag the waitress down until 8:10pm and asked her to have it fixed and boxed up because we wouldn't wait any longer. She didn't box the...fries so I guess I paid for those for nothing. Didn't receive cutlery or my husbands beer, and I have to go home and microwave supper. Won't be back anytime soon.
It has been a year since our last visit to this establishment. We make trips to visit the beautiful town of Bridgewater as much as we can. We have been to this pub many times in the past. It became one of our favourite spots...to eat. Never had issues with them until now. I realize the Covid has changed our way of dining. But it does not give the right to feel ignored as a customer just because we decided to eat on the dining section apart from the Bar section. We felt very uncomfortable as if we were intruding on the little bar party that seemed to be going on in the back. The waitress was more interested in what was going on in the bat area than over in the dining area. No specials were mentioned upon arrival. So we ordered our food. We waited 30 min for 2 orders of 10 wings, and a hamburger with fries. The burger plate was ok but the wings were the tiniest little chicken wings I ever saw! At $14 for 10 scrawny wings and no sides, it was very shocking. I asked if wings were ever on special? So the waitress replied that if we would have come in another 5 minutes they would be 10 wings for $3.99 I was so upset that the waitress couldn't have cared less to mention if we were to have waited back when we ordered the wings that we would have left and returned afterwards considering the price and the look of the wings. Very disappointing. They took a few dollars off the bill, but that wasn't the point. The food portions have shrunk drastically as the quality and service has as well.
The food there is Good, on average... Their Clam Chowder} is amazing... Rich tasting, and full of Fish, Clams, Scallops, etc.... Their Hamburger is passable... Deep fried food is a little greasy... The service is sometimes good...depending on who the staff are... Sometimes it 's shaky...depending...on who the staff are... It 's Luck of the Draw in that place... There is LOTS of Mall Parking available... We were there to have a sit down moment, chat, unwind, and then have Lunch... couldn 't stand the Playground level of noise... We tried them several times, hoping for a relax Break... LOTS of luck... Women walking into the place, out of the Mall, hauling along their LOUD, protesting, and sometimes out of control Children, into what USED to be an ADULT Establishment... Asking a Staff member to deal with this disturbing Outbreak is useless... BUT... after all, it is in a MALL... Tired parents and irritated children pack in... Parents do absolutely nothing to keep their children in line... just sit there and shovel food into their face. I made a remark to our blonde server that We weren 't here to listen to the kids going off ... And maybe we should drop our Food Bill on THEIR table, like they do in B.C., when a kid is particularly LOUD Obnoxious... and ruins other Diners Food break... maybe we are different... BUT, we go into a place to relax, and enjoy our Lunch... this place is WORSE than any McDonald 's I have ever seen.
