The Mimosas were also delightful, and I couldn't resist the chips and Guacamole, even for breakfast. Overall, everything was completely enjoyable.
If you find yourself in the area craving Mexican food, this restaurant is worth a try. I appreciate its casual atmosphere in a typically upscale area. The prices are reasonable, but it's important to remember the location; it's not going to be cheap. The Mexican cuisine was decent, but not the most authentic if you're particular about that. Unfortunately, they were out of Campari when we visited, but they do have a full bar. There is plenty of seating available, including bar seating, and a parking lot for convenience.
We came here once before and has possibly the worst meal ever. We figured it must of been an off night because no place that bad can possibly stay open. We were wrong. It's really strange to walk into a beach town restaurant and have the manager seem angry at customers for showing up. Still, we foolishly moved forward. The next warning came when midway through our order our waitress seemed to need a ambulance because she had a coughing attack. I'm not sure if she was choking or covering up laughing at us for eating this horse ****. The food came out fast, like really fast, like so fast they may have cooked it last week and left it on the counter. It certainly tasted that way. I've had bland Mexican food. I don't even mind plain hamburger. This place went a step further and seemed to suck any flavor whatsoever out of the meat. I mean, it was terrible. The sour cream had the texture of hardened mayonnaise. OMG just stay away.
Avoid this restaurant at all costs! The salsa is spoiled, the guacamole is old, and the server is pretentious. The food is overpriced. Save yourself the disappointment and head to Amagansett for better dining options. Believe me, you'll thank me later.
I came to Mercado to celebrate my friend and my birthdays this week, and were it not for the great company of my friends, this would have been one epic fail of a night! Even though the restaurant seemed only about 1/2 full, our food took ONE HOUR to arrive!!! While we were waiting, the women's bathroom (one stall only) was completely out of order, and began to smell unfortunately our table was next to it... Eventually, by the end of the hour, the very grumpy manager seemed to have fixed it. To top it off, my mole chicken enchiladas had the worst mole sauce I have ever tasted drizzled on top. It was thin and slightly bitter and chalky. The waiter was kind enough to send it back and replace it with the shrimp and cheese quesadilla, which my friend had been letting me nibble on in the meantime and was actually quite delicious. Although inattentive with the water filling, especially important for a Mexican restaurant with the spices, our waiter was very nice about the replaced entree and did not charge us for the hassle. In the end he brought out 2 tres leches desserts with candles, which were pretty good, nothing special. (which we were charged for) It seems overall that the service, particularly the management, is horrible with extremely long wait times and that the food is really hit or miss... the cheese enchiladas and cheese and shrimp quesadilla were both delicious but the scallops were underwhelming and the mole inedible. If you don't mind a wait, and you want some cheesy deliciousness in the area, Mercado is your place... otherwise don't bother.
