Han Lao - Brentwood

The food was absolutely incredible! Although there was a bit of a wait, it was definitely worth it.

I frequently dine at this restaurant, and the variety of options is impressive. Their sushi is among the best I've ever tasted, and they offer delicious ramen bowls as well as authentic Thai dishes – it's like having three restaurants in one! Additionally, I have a gluten allergy, and the staff is well-informed about how to prepare meals to accommodate my needs. I highly recommend this place!

I must express my disappointment with the food and service at this restaurant. I had been eager to try it for a while, but when we arrived, we were the only patrons there. My husband ordered crab rangoon and Tom kha soup. The crab rangoon was overly sweet, almost like a dessert. I opted for the fried chicken skin starter, which was supposed to come with a sauce. When I asked the waitress about it, she claimed it didn't come with sauce, despite it being listed on the menu. I also ordered khao poo soup, which arrived with a thin, watery, flavorless broth. The menu stated it contained ground pork, but there was none in the soup. When I inquired again, the waitress said she would bring some. She returned with limp, pale slices of pork belly that actually made me feel a bit queasy. Throughout our visit, we were the only couple in the restaurant, and the staff was inattentive and only marginally polite. Overall, I was left underwhelmed and will not be coming back.

I absolutely love curry, but I've primarily experienced Thai curry until now. Today, I decided to try Laotian curry, and it was amazing! I ordered the yellow curry with chicken, which had significantly less liquid compared to Thai curry. It was a thick mixture of chicken, potatoes, carrots, and curry sauce. I opted for the spiciest version they offered (though I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re as fond of spicy food as I am; it was definitely hot!), and it truly hit the spot. Additionally, the staff was incredibly friendly— the guy behind the counter was cheerful and authentic.

The best Thai and Lao food you can find in St. Louis! The sushi is an excellent bonus!
