Came here for a wedding at lunchtime. There was a beautiful cheese platter on arrival. Very generous portions. I had the tuna. It was beautiful and fresh with artichoke and new potatoes. I also tasted the braised beef cheek and the pork with stonefruit. Despite the desserts being deconstructed (not my favourite way to present a dessert), they were all beautifully balanced. My personal favourite was the praline brik with fennel caramel. The accompanying wines were exquisite (one of the best sav blanc) and tge staff were very accommodating with food allergies. The backdrop is beautiful and adds to the ambience.
On our amazing trip to Tasmania, we decided to go to Josef Chromy Winery. This is a cellar door and restaurant. I didn’t really know much about the place before I went so I basically put myself in Andrea’s hands. Luckily for her it payed off this time. We started of at the cellar door, waiting for our reservation. Naturally we decided to try a few of their wines. They have a huge variety, so I’m not going to go into detail explaining them all to you. Anyway our favorites were the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The wine was so good we bought six bottles.
Amazing views, food, wines service. We did the Feed Me menu that comes with 4 courses, bread butter, and a complimentary cheese croquette appetiser. We topped this up with pairing wines (4 glasses Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir a dessert Riesling). $75/pp for Feed Me menu, $35/pp for pairing wines. <br/ <br/ Favourite dishes: Beef Carpaccio Salmon Sous vide. <br/ Not too fav dish: Lamb belly was too fatty and rich. <br/
Outstanding flavours perfectly balanced, unique and beautifully presented.. each of us was so deeply satisfied with our own dishes we couldn't bear to change the flavour by trying someone else's dish. The wines were beautifully paired a special recommendation for the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir... the waitress was kind enough to allow a tasting of each before choosing. The gardens and wineyards around the restaurant are exquisite and perfect for a sunny lunch or sipping wine on the deck.
