You should try the Maracuja (passion fruit) torte! It's unbelievably delicious! Just a Masterpiece in itself! You expect a hard' outside but it's like a firm mousse, with different layers in the middle, what a surprise and just PERFECTION! Cafe Vogel, owner, staff is...just AMAZING! Stopped there after hours of cycling and was very well greeted by the friendly staff. Has a piece of käsekuchen and a double espresso. The espresso was ok but considering Germans standards it was pretty good and the käsekuchen was the best I've had...in Hessen. Needless to say that I'll be going back for käsekuchen.

Nice and cozy bakery (the correct German name “Konditerei Vogel”) and coffehouse. I noticed it the day before, walking to the castle. It had a lot of visitors, this is a good sign. But I was afraid not to have time before closing of guided tours in castle, but later it was not working. And I decided to visit it the next morning before going to Solms. Fortunately that it's quite close to the Europa-Platz, where is a bus stop. Despite the early hour (cafe opens from 9 o'clock) , inside there were already the visitors. The cafe is obviously popular – not at least because of possibility to take its products away. It is deserved – on the walls hangs a lot of diplomas and certificates. They sell lots of fresh pastries, superb cakes with delicious filling (mainly fruits and berries), all of them inexpensive. I paid my attention to the fact that the staff cares about the customers. In any case I clearly looked like a random tourist, but they came to me twice with questions if everything was all right and needee I somethdng else or not. It was done so correctly, that I couldn't take the feeling of urgency.

Whilst it has a good reputation amongst locals, it is somehow expensive for the offered service. Waiting time on the terrace considerable, a dry cake. Another cake was excellent.
