Such a fun place. Great food, atmosphere, service and price. Easy to find. Had the lunch Buffett. Should we come back to Brandon would come again.
We tend to go there every time we visit Brandon. Salads always fresh and tasty with delicious dressing. Buffet much better value than ala carte. Chicken and pork schnitzel both delicious. Not sure if perogies are made fresh or are frozen. Bratwurst spicy and tasty. Friendly service. Based on your taste and expectations, you will love it or be disappointed. We personally really enjoy the food and will eat there again. Friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. Not a fancy restaurant or chain but more like what you would get home cooked by your German aunt based on recipes handed down from generation to generation.
My wife & I went to Hansel & Gretel's for Father's Day, & we found that the buffet was hot, fresh, & most enjoyable. It was our 2nd visit & will definitely will not be the last visit. Service was prompt, friendly & courteous. Thank you for a most enjoyable visit, we will definitely be back, even though we live 200 km. from Brandon.
We were so excited to find a German restaurant in Brandon since ours in Winnipeg closed. Unfortunately it was a wasted trip. We went with buffet and it was the worst German food I think I've ever had. I grew up eating spaetzle and know exactly what it should look/taste like but what they prepared was inedible. It looked like wet scrambled eggs, and that was exactly the texture. I think they boiled it for about 30 minutes and then didn't season it. It was a gross mush. The vegetables with hollandaise sauce didn't actually have any sauce on them, only butter. The chicken schnitzel was great, but the pork was thick and tough. The fried potatoes had a delicious flavour, but were terribly under-cooked. The bratwurst didn't have any typical bratwurst seasonings in it, it tasted more like a store-bought weiner. The perogies were decent, but they forgot to put out sour cream. This was a very expensive let down. Even the can of pop is twice what you'd pay at another establishment. We will not go here again.
