One of the few places were the waitresses and the Portuguese bartenders are smiling, fast and kind. I eat alone in an high stool on the counter. 1/2 dose of goatling Flavoured and tasty, and water. I payed less than 10 euros, this restautant is in front of more fancy places selling the same dish at the double of the price. It looks more like a bar but people are friendly and the food is cheap and well done.
I wanted a solid local lunch, after dining for several days straight at more up market restaurants. I was not the least bit disappointed. When I peeked in at 11:00 a.m., the bar along the eastern wall of the restaurant was jam packed with old farts like myself. Not a female in the place, and the tables in the western two thirds of the restaurant stood vacant. I went back just after noon and the men were leaving, I believe as their wives came out of the Braga Cathedral up the street after mass. I ordered the beans and trip off the menu, but was told it was the only dish which was not available. So I had the roast pork loin instead, after waving off the couvert (fish dumplings and bread). The place filled up quickly, although a few tables remained vacant. It was a solid and satisfying meal. The two thin ish slices of meat were adequate. They came with a small salad, a pride of roasted small potatoes, and a goodly serving of rice. The meat, which is a dry cut, came with what I believe was warm, seasoned olive oil. The oil made the dish very pleasant to eat. With it I ordered a full bottle of the house red, which turned out to be a vinho verde tinto (translation: a young red wine). I didn't care for it at first rather thin but it grew on me. The meal was served with lightning speed, however I was not rushed out the door when I lingered over the wine (not able to finish it all though). By 1:15, when I left, most of the tables had been vacated already. The meal was of good average quality and enjoyable for what it was. At 12.50 euros for the meal with the wine, it was quite a bargain.
Its not terrible, but the couvert came cold and the dishes have not in special, I would not recommend to my friends or family. They are sit at great place and could improve a lot if they wish.
It`s near the historical sites of Braga; the restaurant it`s simple but the food is well prepared, the price is good and usually the 1/2 portions may serve two persons if you`re not too hungry. For lunch I asked for a half chiken with rice, potatoes (roasted) and salad; the portion was huge and was very good (the cost was 4.5 euros). They have a small table of wines, but they`re from here and are very good. The man who attended us seems to be the owner, he was attentive all the time. It`s a good place to go with friends and family. The place is quiet, despite the television turned on next to the bar.
