Cook's Bay Fish & Chips

We've eaten here on a few occasions. I think it's the only fish and chip place in town. That being said it's pretty good. It isn't cheap though. I'd call it your prototypical F & C restaurant.

We had takeout and the food was hot and the portions were good....I FOUND A DINNER FOR TWO SEEM SOMEWHAT EXPENSIVE.

Popped in for dinner one late afternoon and ordered Haddock & chips and a salad. The owner was friendly and helpful. He told us he drove from Markam, Ont. everyday and made up his batter fresh. The salad was crisp and tasty with the balsamic vinegar dressing. Our fish was beautiful - the batter was just perfect. The original old fashion batter - not that breaded stuff you get some places.We definitely will be back. Our total bill was about $28.00 dollars

Okay, I will say since I live in the same town I always get my order to go, so I can't comment on the "dining in" experience. What i will say that we get PLENTY of food for the money. We usually get a 4 fish 1 chip order for my family of 4. The wife will want a salad instead of fries. With just 1 order of chips, we get a LOT of fries for myself and 2 kids. We can't finish them all in one sitting. The portion of fish that we get is really good.Regarding a previous posting of the fish leaving a bad "film on the roof of their mouths", I agree that my family had the same experience in the past. However in the past couple of years it food has been much better. There isn't any aftertaste from the fish. Told my in-laws about the place, now they enjoy going there from time to time.

Love fish and chips? Then why haven't you tried cooks bay yet. Nice and crisp not oily. Just as fish and chips should be.
