The Mary Shelley - Bournemouth

I have been visiting this restaurant every Monday afternoon for a few months now, and it is nice to be recognized by the staff after serving so many people. The girl I like the most always remembers my drink, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Thank you Neha, you are amazing.

The Mary Shelley is usually a great place with tasty food, fantastic service, and reasonable prices. However, on New Year's Eve, there was an unexpected incident where everyone was asked to leave and my wife and I were not allowed to re-enter because we did not have our IDs on us (despite looking old enough). It seems the establishment may have had underage drinkers that night, but I believe the management's response was excessive. Overall, I still believe this is a wonderful restaurant and I would consider returning, but perhaps only during the day.

When I visited Spoons on Boxing Day with my friend, who was in a difficult emotional state, we encountered extremely rude staff who accused us of gossiping about them and kicked us out. Despite our denial and attempt to explain our conversation, they refused to serve us any more food or drinks after just two drinks. They also questioned our IDs, even though we are both of legal drinking age, as evidenced by our driver's licenses and tattoos. I am unsure what prompted this behavior from the staff - perhaps a desire to close up early - but it was a disappointing and unpleasant experience. I have always enjoyed going to Spoons with friends and family, but now feel hesitant to return.

Went to the Mary Shelley for cocktails and lunch, food great. Cocktails great, service great. Only downside was tables were very sticky, even after they’d been wiped by staff. Toilets nice and clean.

The worst fish and chips I ever had. It tasted really fishy in a way it shouldn't be. The three of us ate a bit but decided to leave the rest. Some of the orders took too long to arrive. They had taken the food to another table. I usually praise the fish and chips in Wetherspoons, they are good in many of the pubs around the country, but not here! Disappointing.
