We had to eat the menu du Jour for Sunday and it consisted of a tomato salad, a small calf cake with roquette salad and an apple cake for dessert. Although delicious, it was very small for the price of 24€ per person.
I only wrote a review of the Grand Hotel, but in fact it was for the restaurant. Large fish (seed chevalier but wait very long. Very friendly staff, cheap prices.
We wanted to eat with a friend. They had only a limited menu to choose from a starter, main and dessert. The food was good and smells cooked home. The staff is friendly, but speak limited English, the youngest, although... looks over.
Situated within the splendid belle epoche Grand Hotel in the quartier thermale (spa district) about 7 minutes on foot from the centre of town. Plentiful parking on site, but poor disabled access, 3 steps up to front door, 3 more steps to the lift to...the 1st floor restaurant. The lunchtime service has just been re launched as a 'Bistrot ' with a 2 course menu including a plat du jour for 14 euros. We arrived without reservations and were warmly welcomed. Service was polite and attentive, if a little slow. The food was excellent. The 2 of us went a la carte (choice of about 4 items for each course), starters being in our case a home smoked salmon salad, and snails, bacon and mushrooms in puff pastry. For main course an andouillette (chitterling sausage), and a 'piece du boucher ' (which turned out to be a bavette flank steak), both served with the weirdly named 'pommes des terre pont neuf ' which were actually home made chips, and rather good. We skipped cheese and desert and finished with coffee. Including a half bottle of wine and two aperitifs the bill came to a shade under 80 euros for 2. We would happily go again.
