Contribuiți la feedbackIn 2015, I wrote Disappointed . We had also been there back in 2017, it was OK, but tried it again last night, after hearing a very favourable report from our daughter and son-in-law from September. Very pleased. The menu has improved to offer more fine dining choices. We started with the soup, green vegetable cream, very good, nice delicate flavour, garnished with what I think was a red pepper oil with a slight tang to add interest. We shared the guinea fowl terrine. Terrine is a favourite of mine. It came with a relish garnish, pickles, some salad garnish etc. Although it was served with toast rounds we had a basket of baguette bread which I preferred. We both had the duck leg confit. The Sauce had a nice depth and appropriate sweetnes, the meat was moist and tender and accompanied by rice. My husband liked the rice. The rice itself was good, although as a personal taste only, I would have preferred a couple of small roast potatoes or even mashed. The vegetables were a lovely medley, baby bokchoy, carrot, spiralized turnip (I had to ask I couldn 't guess) beet and brussel sprout cooked with a sweet buttery glaze, accompanied by a small amount of a mild cheese sauce. My only criticism would be that I personally would have preferred the vegetables with maybe 40 to 50% less sweetness. My husband didn 't notice it. On top of the sweet confit on the duck, I found it was a bit overwhelming. All we left on our plates were the bones, Overall we enjoyed our dinner and we enjoyed our evening very much. Yes, it is expensive but we have paid as much and more in Ottawa at 4 and 5 star restaurants. COVID distancing was appropriate, and potocols were excellent. I saw staff not only clean the table, chairs and place mats beside us, between customers, she also cleaned the wall adjacent to the table. Something I wouldn 't have even thought about. We will go back.
My wife and I tried to call this restaurant twice , left messages as to when we wanted to reserve, but received no call back. Nevertheless, we took a chance and arrived at 5 and no seating was left except on the upper level where we accepted to to sit despite my wife's fear of heights. Seating arrangement was not according to regulations for COVID distancing and I told our server that we were uncomfortable with it but they did not offer to reseat us at a table that was further away from everyone. For appetizer I had a mushroom based one which was OK and my wife had a soup which she thought was good. She had fish for dinner and I had duck breast, a little on the dry side. Dessert was ice cream based. It was an expensive dinner, charging the price of 5* restaurants in the city and its quality and service did not match. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We have been wanting to go here for some time, as our cottage is nearby. It did not disappoint. The food and service were both excellent. The portions were generous, so save room for dessert.
Four of us dined on a Thursday evening during Covid season. Very happy to experience the same great service, wine and food! We enjoyed the lake trout, mixed grill and chicken parm. The shrimp appetizer in an avacado bowl was awesome I could have eaten three of them! Looking forward to our next visit!
I have eaten here about a dozen times and I always love it from dinners with my husband to a family reunion. My only sadness is that the table hote is gone from the menu and I dont know why it was an amazing deal and changed weekly and I loved it Bring it back please!!
