Borgo Antico - BORGO VERCELLI

Was in Genoa in May and my local host took me to this small village Boccadasse.. after a stroll... were hungry and had to go for authentic pizza place.. Found this restaurant and ordered vegetarian Pizza and enjoyed it thoroughly.. Staff was very friendly and joyful (not a surprise as all Italians normally are.... , service very good and food very tasty... what else does one need!

We had some time to kill between Genoa and Milan and poked around the countryside of Vercelli. We were a little disappointed by Vercelli itself, and on our way out, almost passed by this phenomenal restaurant. Luckily, one of us had to use a restroom, and came back out and waved the rest of us in. We were greeted by the owner, Alviso, and shown to a lovely table. The rest of the restaurant was filling in with locals. Alviso let us know that the mushrooms were remarkable, and had the kitchen whip us up sauteed wild mushrooms with garlic and onion, and it was heaven. Vercelli, being known for it 's rice, features risotto on every menu. This risotto we had was over the top. It was a mushroom and wild sausage risotto (I don 't like sausage so I picked it out and it was till sooooo flavorful! . We enjoyed it with a delicious local wine, Colline Novaresi Croatina . Do not miss this place while travelling through Italy!

After arriving unexpectedly late for lunch, our gracious hosts offered us one the best Italian meals we've ever had. Starting off with an excellent array of cold meats and antipasti (all home made), followed by fresh pasta dishes (fatti in casa), we could barely find space for a wonderful selection of desserts not to mention the excellent wine and vino spumante! We will definitely be back! Thank you so much, Famiglia Racioppi!

Recommended We stopped by chance at lunch. Large parking, neat and clean room. Friendly and attentive staff to customer needs. Kitchen of excellent quality, order fried mixed, I would say...special! Surely I will return! In short, the best to have lunch in peace enjoying typical dishes!

Local ordered and to my taste furnished well. We dined in 2 and enjoyed both the quality of the kitchen and the kind and fast service. I will gladly return
