Los Altos Mexican - Bondurant

Today is Taco Tuesday. I used their app to place our order. Placing the order, I used ApplePay which is super convenient! My order was ready in 15 minutes. 5 tacos, rice and beans. $8.25. That's crazy affordable! Then I added Nachos with cheese add beef. Delish. Right when I walked in the door, my order was ready. In and out, quick. Food was hot and fresh. The ground beef is almost like a paste though. Good flavor, the the texture is just off. I'll be back, for sure! I miss eating out!

What a wonderful surprise in Bondurant Iowa. The street Tacos where out of this world. This no ordinary Mexican restaurant, its a breath of fresh air to the rest.

Lucky you, Bondurant, for getting a fantastic new restaurant! The menu is similar to what you'd find at any Mexican restaurant, but the food is truly excellent. The service was a bit slow, likely due to the busy crowd despite the ongoing challenges with COVID in Iowa. The ceviche could have used a bit more lime, but the guacamole was quite enjoyable. The chorizo was well-balanced and not overly seasoned, while the carnitas were packed with excellent flavor. The tamales were also quite impressive compared to other Mexican restaurants. We'll definitely be returning!

The meat was cooked well but lacked any seasoning in both our dishes. The sides were somewhat puzzling; while we received the usual beans, rice, lettuce, and avocado, we also found raw onions and bell peppers, which are typically caramelized. Their rawness made them feel out of place, and it would have been more effective to incorporate them with the meat to enhance the flavor. The jalapeños were an unexpected letdown as well. Instead of the fresh slices or whole peppers we usually enjoy, they served the bland, canned, circular nacho-style jalapeños. As for the chips and salsa that accompanied the meal, the chips were stale and thick, while the salsa was thin and watery, lacking any distinct flavor. In summary, although the food was well-prepared, it was quite bland. A few adjustments to improve the seasoning and overall flavor could really elevate this restaurant.

Last Friday, my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a meal at Los Altos. As seniors, we don't dine out very often anymore. We spent $50, but unfortunately, my meal was excessively salty. I informed the staff three times, yet they did not offer any solution, which left me feeling very frustrated. This isn't the first time we've encountered this issue; it has happened a few times now. It's reached a point where we have decided not to return. The restaurant should be willing to address customer concerns immediately; otherwise, they risk losing business, including ours.
