Contribuiți la feedbackThis restaurant was a complete disappointment for me as a food lover. The staff was rude and unprofessional. Many people seem to think this is a good place, but I found the food to be taken from a mini bucket with bare hands and not freshly prepared. Everything seemed to be stored in questionable conditions. Eating was done in a dirty and unsanitary environment. The quality of the food was poor and overall the experience was unpleasant. Don't believe the hype, I would not recommend wasting your money or resources at this establishment.
We had mutton curry and prawn malaikari. all dishes of alu bhaja, to shukto, to dal, to all non veg objects and chatni were amazinnggg. would like to visit again. also, do not miss their homemade ghee and bori amazing. quality
Visited by previous booking on 13may2022. the ambiente was unique with basic facilities. eating was simple, but excellent mastery and tasteful. mutton was very good and worth trying. a big problem is that they do not accept cards or any kind of digital payment either in the restaurant or in the attached store. they say that network does not work while our handys get all the signals. even some other shops nearby had a device of digital payment. this point is a great handicap for every visitor. we are not sure if gst is added. a beautiful experience.
Our recent visit to Shantiniketan was solely for the mutton curry at Bonolakshmi, which was incredibly delicious. The dark reddish mutton was rich in seasoning and oil, making it a standout dish. The highlight of this place is definitely the food. From the flavorful mond dal and juicy dhokar dalna to the mutton and fish curry, everything was consistently delicious. The main thali cost us Rs 130 and the mutton curry was an additional Rs 200. It's recommended to book your lunch in advance, preferably the day before, due to the popularity of the restaurant. They also offer local crafts and products like ghee, honey, and bori at reasonable prices but high quality. The service may be a bit slow at times, but it's worth the wait. Saturdays and Sundays tend to be busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Overall, our experience at Bonolakshmi surpassed our previous visit to Barishal Rannaghar. Bonolakshmi is definitely a top choice for delicious food in Shantiniketan.
Visiting Vanalaxmi is a great experience, especially if you want to see and witness the actual village life of West Bengal. If you want to have lunch at the Vanalaxmi canteen, you must prebook your meal over the phone at +91 94344 46150. They offer a veg thali for Rs.150, mutton for Rs.200, and various fish preparations starting at Rs.100. They also serve homemade Bengali sweets known as PITHAS, starting at Rs.30 per piece. I also purchased GHEE for Rs.780 per kilo, available in 250gm and 500gm plastic bottles. The food provided is homemade and delicious, with most dishes being less oily and very tasty. They offer repeat servings of the veg thali items and provide their own GHEE with hot rice. Nonveg items are available depending on excess availability. Overall, it's a great experience.
