Richard's Barbecue - Bolivar

Stopped in today on the way through Bolivar. Looking for BBQ- it is a small shack, but lots of people going in and out. I could smell the smoke rolling when we got out of the truck. After a short wait to get inside to order only 4 people will fit inside) we chose the pulled pork sandwich platter- comes with 2 sides, since slaw was in the sandwich I chose, baked beans and fries. My husband got the same with sides of slaw and beans. The man working was busy, but didn 't rush us, was really pleasant and when my husband asked for sweet tea, he explained they didn 't have it, but gave us lemonade pink lemonade that was really good) and took our phone number and we waited in the truck for our order- after 15 minutes or so they called. I went and got the order, and the fun began. The bun was jumbo and toasted, the pork was hot,pulled and perfectly portioned, had a great mix of "bark "in it, nice sauce and great crunchy slaw- the sauce and slaw complimented the meat, but did not overpower it, the smoky pork was the star of the show! The beans were hot and had hamburger meat and BBQ in them, the slaw had an apple taste which was very nice, rough chopped with great crunch! Fries were overdone, but I was there for the BBQ. We are both KCBS certified judges and my husband cooked competition BBQ for years. We have eaten lots of BBQ and let me tell you- you want to eat here!!!!!! Drive to Bolivar and get your fix- you won 't regret it!

So sad its gone when Richard passed it was a loss of a great man and wonderful food best ribs I've ever had cost was awesome and the brisket even better.

Has great barbecue! Meat platters with chicken, bologna, ribs pulled pork are great for a family meal where everyone wants something different. Does a great ribeye too. Only criticism is the piece of loaf bread in the box with a meal. Would like at least Ed a piece of Texas toast or a roll. We pick up from there often. COVID-19 protocols in place are adequate.

This place is sooo good! We got 2 bbq sandwiches, pork nachos, and potato salad and every bit is delicious! Wasn't too pricey either. The ladies inside were great and funny!! Would definitely recommend y'all stopping in if you're in the area!

What a great find! Stopped by on my Saturday are cruising around. First off the ladies working inside were so sweet to and hooked me up good. Second, if they charged me $10 more for the same pulled pork sandwich I'd probably buy two just so I had one for later. That was damn good! I'll definitely be back and bring my friends. #supportlocalbbq
