Contribuiți la feedbackI have no idea what the last person was on about... this restaurant is excellent! Great prices (meal for two, drinks and dessert for just 40€) and great quality food. I was born in this region of Bavaria but have lived in the UK since my teens. I can genuinely say that the food is traditional Bavarian and served to a high standard. Me and my partner eaten there several times and are more than content to return. Most main meals are accompanied with a fresh salad with light dressing. The main meals are generous portions and nicely cooked, same for deserts. The waitress, Josephine, who essentially runs the place is friendly, helpful and very hard working.
First of all I would like to explain that I am from The Netherlands, which means that English is not my native language. In advance I would like to apologies for any language and spelling errors in my review. I choose to write my reviews in English so many people can read or translate them to their own language. This place is located 2 car minutes from the center of Bodenmais. On the left side of the front door across the street there is a special parking lot for this restaurant. We had diner in their Beer garden. There are not a lot of tables in the beer garden so if you like to have a diner after 19.00 I would like to advise you to reserve a table. We had two large drinks, 0,5 liter each. One Cola light and one Appel juice both from the brand Spezi. As main dish we had a Jägerschnitzel with eierspätzel and a Munchener Schnitzel with baked potatoes. Both main dishes came with a salat. The Jägerschnitzel with eierspätzel was okay especially the sauce that came with the Jägerschnitzel was very nice. The Münchner schnitzel was a schnitzel filled with mushrooms, onions, bacon, herbs and spices. However it was a pretty peace of quit dry meat. The baked potatoes were very thin so they had absorb a lot of vet.The both salats had very little dressing and no taste. The staff of the restaurant were very nice and helpful, great people!
We were fully prepared to bash these guys because some of the reviews look suspicious.But... it's actually true! The Rechen has very honest, very tasty food in good portions and at a good price. We had Jägerschnitzel and Forelle Müllerin (traditional German Gasthof food), followed by a Kaiserschmarrn (indeed delicious). All in a relaxed environment and served with a smile. They also have a schnapps distilled locally (which we took home). It was such a nice experience that we went back two days later and had the exact same dinner again :)If you go early (around 7ish), make a reservation, the place was full on both nights we were there.
We took a menu for 17 euro per person including a soup, a main course and a dessert. the soup was good, main course (goulash) was ok, nothing more than that, but the kaisershmarem (typical german/austrian dessert) was one of the best in my life
Om met de rolstoel niet steeds weer in en uit de auto te hoeven konden wij hier telefonisch eten bestellen (het menu staat op de website), op een afgesproken moment het eten op borden afhalen, en dan in ons pension eten. Heerlijk eten volgens Beierse keuken.
