Toojay's Deli • Bakery •

This restaurant has been struggling for years. During our time living in Tampa, we enjoyed dining at other places (now closed) and were looking forward to returning here. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The host was quite rude, and the food did not meet our expectations.

My food order arrived in under 30 minutes. Everything was fantastic and exactly as I had requested. The delivery was quick, and the driver was both friendly and professional.

We waited at least 15 minutes just to be seated, and it took an additional 45-60 minutes to receive our food. Even simple requests, like a cup of coffee, were overlooked, and we had to ask multiple times. At one point, I considered just calling in an order for pickup instead. I can only imagine how chaotic it would be during busier times. Our server was very nice and apologized for the delays, but the overall experience shouldn't hinge only on their efforts. This reflects poor management in terms of training and oversight. It's a real shame because the food was excellent, and the ambiance has a great old-school deli vibe. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals and expressed a desire to return, but I’m hesitant. We're thinking of trying another place next time, and I really hope this was just an off day. Dining out can be expensive, and the overall experience should definitely meet a 5-star standard.

Surprising and undervalued jewel, which is from a simple perspective. Hidden in a plaza and away from the main street, this is an incredible restaurant deli. Had the best pastrami sandwich I had in almost 40 years. Many parking spaces, great bakery and great service.

Stopped by for soup and sandwich. Matzo ball chicken soup would've passed Grandma's test. Corned beef (lean cut) was first rate. Young server was pleasant and very attentive.
