This was truly the best culinary experience I had in Italy. Normally I don’t write a lot of reviews but seeing this spot has only 35, I had to. By no means I want to state that I am an expert, but what I can say is that I love eating and cooking a lot. This spot easily tops the Michelin experience I had a couple of days later, in the senses of authenticity, hospitality and craftsmanship. With Michelin creating a global standard, this spot gives you the experience of eating at an old Italian nonna, with nonna in this case being the 22 year old son as the chef. When entering we saw only Italian locals which we took as a good sign. We had home made gnocchi, home made spaghetti, home made wine, home made cheeses and lardo. They asked if we wanted more wine and as I replied no the host already brought another carafe of wine. Same with dolche (torte with home grown- rhubarb marmalade), coffee and as turned out later all for a low all inclusive price with unlimited wine. We bought a couple of bottles of their wine when leaving. One recommendation; the don’t speak English. I wish I had Google translate downloaded with Italian offline available (4G wasn’t available). The host had a lot to tell and we managed to communicate, but I wish I could understand better. These people have hospitality and slow food in their dna. Don’t miss out.

We had such an amazing day with Frederico and his family! It started with a superb lunch of penne with radicchio, shredded beef with fennel and radicchio salad and yummy cheeses with home made jellies. We then toured the vineyard and were wowed by the beautiful views and impressive craftsmanship of the house Frederico built to host tastings. We chatted so long that we joined them for a dinner of pumpkin soup and breaded pork cutlets. Add delicious wine to go along with each course and you have the perfect day. This restaurant, and the family that goes with it, are treasures.
