Lucky Garden - Bloomington

I was craving sushi one day, so I browsed Yelp to find sushi places in Bloomington-Normal and ended up at Lucky Garden. Honestly, when I first pulled into the parking lot, I had second thoughts because the exterior looked a bit questionable. However, I decided to give it a shot and went inside, and I’m so glad I did! The contrast between the outside and the inside is striking! The sushi bar, where I usually sit, is clean and visually appealing. The sushi chef, Will, is amazing! He is the kindest person you could meet, and it’s clear he truly loves making sushi—his skills are impressive! Every time I visit, the sushi is perfect and unbelievably delicious. I highly recommend trying the red tiger!

This was our first experience at Lucky Garden, and after seeing the positive reviews on Yelp, we decided to visit for lunch. The atmosphere is quite pleasant, and I especially loved the sushi bar. We ordered the sushi lunch, Hunan beef, Kung Pao chicken, and rainbow vegetables. The sushi lunch was fantastic—fresh and delicious. The Hunan beef was remarkable, featuring fresh vegetables and a generous portion of high quality! My son also really enjoyed the Kung Pao chicken. Overall, it's a great value for money, with a lovely ambiance and excellent service. We will definitely be back!

We ordered sushi, opting for the black dragon roll, and when it arrived, it had a peculiar odor. The seaweed wrap tasted stale; chewing it felt like gnawing on plastic—it was tough and stringy. We hoped it was just a one-off issue, but then our main course came. I had ordered wide rice noodles with chicken, and once again, there was an unusual smell. While the noodles and chicken were okay, I found that they had added chopped cabbage, which I usually like. Unfortunately, this cabbage tasted sour and was definitely spoiled. It was so unappetizing that we decided to ask for the check, paid, and left without finishing our meal. Our waitress didn’t help the situation either; she seemed to be having a bad night and was unfriendly and rather brusque with us throughout our visit. We had high hopes based on the reviews, but after this experience, I have no intention of returning to this restaurant, even if I find myself back in town for work.

First time here and the service was prompt and the atmosphere was delightful. I had the lunch special with two rolls that came with soup. I also ordered an app as well. The dumpling soup was perfect and the crab rangoon was nice and hot. I ordered shrimp tempura and a Philadelphia roll. My favorite was the shrimp roll which was good but the rice seemed chewy and the rolls weren't very tight. Don't get me wrong, I ate most of it but I was hoping for better sushi. I'm sure I'll be back and try again. The bill was about 16 so decently priced all in all.

I thought It was really good! The seaweed salad had a kick to it and it was awesome! We had the Red tiger roll and Godzilla! If I could I would eat that red tiger roll every day!!! Super friendly people too!!
