Inn At Millrace Pond - BLAIRSTOWN

This was our fourth Valentine's Day visit to this restaurant over the past 15 years. My wife has always enjoyed the service, food, and atmosphere during our previous three visits. However, this year has changed significantly. The service was far below expectations, and the restaurant was only half full, which is unusual for 7 PM on Valentine’s Day. It took a long time to receive two pieces of bread without butter, and the waiter was absent when we wanted to ask for butter. The food was okay, but a bit too salty. We drove 58 miles to get here, and unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

The restaurant offers a beautiful ambiance with warm, friendly staff. From the moment we made our reservation (they even called ahead to ask if we wanted to be seated near the music) to the warm welcome from the hostess, the experience was delightful. Our server, Therese, was fantastic—she guided us in choosing our dinner, explaining how each dish was prepared and where the ingredients came from. The wine expert, McKendrick, was exceptional; he took the time to discuss our wine selection and even sent a second bottle with their compliments. We plan to return next weekend and highly recommend this gem in Hope, New Jersey, to anyone seeking a unique and truly welcoming culinary experience.

We always enjoy dining at the Inn at Millrace. It’s such a lovely setting, and the food is outstanding! We started with cocktails in the tavern, which boasts a rich history as a grist mill, featuring large wooden beams and a massive fireplace along with a stone foundation. For dinner, we were seated in the dining room, where Layla was our waitress. She did an excellent job. It's always a delightful evening when we visit; it’s one of our favorite spots.

Excellent in every sight, as usual. we combine our very nice lunch with a visit to the nest and make the one hour drive from our place in essex county to hope an absolutely pleasant afternoon.

The Inn is a great place to meet friends as it is not noisy and the food and wine is excellant. Staff fun but professional and very tidy in their attire.
