Clean rooms, fantastic tea set with a complete suite of homemade products. well equipped bar. many absolutely stunning hiking trails. the position is something out of it, but it is worth it.

Disappointingly misleading. This is not a castle, this is the hunting lodge, the castle no longer exists. This is not mentioned when you book. Also, we had 2 rooms booked and one room came with full amenities (complimentary toiletries etc) and the other one did not, which we found odd. However, the views were magical! Staff were delightful and the dinner was absolutely delicious! Would visit again, just wish we knew it was not a castle before we booked.

We read the Google reviews before booking this hotel for a night, and we were a bit apprehensive since they weren't very good, but those reviews were from 3-4 years ago. It seems things have changed, as we had a wonderful experience at The Lock Hotel. The property was beautifully maintained and well-kept, and both dinner and breakfast (included in our package) were excellent—refined and somewhat indulgent. If I had to point out one downside, I would suggest that having a spa would greatly enhance the overall experience.

The evening meal was absolutely delicious, and the service was discreet yet attentive. We both felt completely relaxed throughout our stay. Someone else aptly described the place as feeling more like a friend's home than a hotel, and I completely agree—this atmosphere contributed greatly to our sense of ease. The staff were never intrusive, but were readily available when we needed anything, allowing us to fully enjoy our time in the room. Staying here felt like a warm hug, in the best possible way.
