I was curious if the Manod is still a guest house. When I lived in Blaenau, the Manod and the Merion, run by Maggie Jane, who is my dad's cousin, were my dad's local spots. I left Blaenau at 16 to join the Army, and now I live in Canada, while my brother still resides in Blaenau.

As other reviewers have said it is a local pub but not unfriendly to tourists. Made a 4 legged friend there when I went. Will be staying nearby next year so will pop in again.
