El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant, Bar Grill

This was our fifth visit to this restaurant, and our past experiences were better than this one. We were very disappointed with the service and food tonight. The waitress got several parts of our order wrong, including bringing the wrong side items and only half of my child's order. It took 20 minutes for the rest of the order to be brought out, and there was no spoon for my soup, which we had to ask for after waiting for 15 minutes. Each time we needed assistance, we had to get up from our table to find someone as no one checked on us. The service was slow, taking 90 minutes even though there were only three of us in our party and the restaurant was mostly empty. The food was hit or miss, with two entrees lacking seasoning compared to our previous visits. When we received the bill, the waitress brought a handheld credit card scanner that only showed the total price. She seemed annoyed when we asked for an itemized receipt, which revealed incorrect charges. When it came time to pay, the waitress stood uncomfortably close to us, pushing for a higher tip than we felt was warranted given the poor service. As we left, none of the staff acknowledged us and our waitress was seen socializing with another staff member. Overall, we have decided not to return to this restaurant.

The service at this restaurant is excellent and the margaritas are definitely worth the price. If you're a fan of cheese fries, you have to try the ones here - they are the best I've ever had. The steak topping on the cheese fries is also outstanding. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great too!

The outdoor seating is nice and the service was average. I ordered the Molcajete and the food was decent, until I found a stink bug in my dish. I showed it to the waiter, who looked at it and walked away. There was no offer to comp my meal or drinks, and no apology from management. I would prefer to dine at a restaurant that does not serve bugs next time. (Basic food safety should be a minimum standard.)

It was my first and last time at El Ranchero. I placed an order for pick up to be ready ASAP and received an email starting my food would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived 30 minutes after placing my order and my food was not only not ready, they hadn't even seen my order. An employee took a picture of my order off of my phone, told me they hadn't seen (or hadn't been checking) the pick up order, and to come back. I came back 20 minutes later and my food still was not ready. The foyer was full of people waiting for take out who complained that this is typical. It took an additional twenty minutes for my food to come out. If I hadn't have entered my card number when I ordered I would have just cancelled. Food was mediocre. Would not recommend.

Ordered the Super Ranchero Nachos with chicken while at the brewery next door. Very large portion and great flavor. Liked the option of ordering takeout and having them bring it to the table at the brewery.
