Contribuiți la feedbackI hadn't been to this restaurant in a while, but my recent visit exceeded my expectations. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent.
One of my favourite places to eat in Blackburn. I've been twice now and can't fault anything I've had off the menu. The chicken pie was lovely with a white wine tarragon sauce and creamy mash and the starter of smoked salmon and horseradish was well balanced and flavoursome. The atmosphere is so cosy and welcoming. I can't wait to visit in the winter time when the xmas decs are up as I feel it will be extra special then
This is one of the best and most comfortable gastro pubs we have ever visited! The food was delicious and served with passion by the management, chef, kitchen staff, waitress, and waiting staff. The establishment is well-run and we could definitely tell. We arrived around 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon in February and were seated at a cozy table near the window. The menu features rustic dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, such as locally made sausages with mustard dip and excellent cod fish cakes with parsley sauce. The main courses were also outstanding (check out the photo!). I couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding dessert with butterscotch sauce and hopscotch ice cream. If you're looking for good food at reasonable prices in a friendly atmosphere, make sure to visit the Clog Billycock. Just be sure to call ahead and reserve a table because they are going to be very busy!
My recent experience at this restaurant for Christmas lunch was fairly average. The portions were quite small, with my plate only two thirds full. The turkey was small, accompanied by 1 grey-looking pig in a blanket, 2 roast potatoes, 1 carrot, and 1 parsnip. I did not enjoy the salmon starter as it had a strange taste I had never encountered before. Considering the premium price we paid, I expected better quality. Additionally, despite booking in advance for a large group, we were split over two tables.
This place feels like it's out in the country but it's only 5 minutes off the main road in and out of Blackburn! Great atmosphere: get a table next to the fire or sit outside when the weather cooperates. They're part of Ribble Valley Inns, which means a commitment to local sourcing of their food. Some of the character of the original pub is gone but so are the drug dealers and listings in Blackburn's police blotter. Beer is well kept here too.
