Straightaway Cafe - Black Mountain

My daughter and I recently enjoyed a scenic drive to Straightaway during our visit to the area. The views from the spacious deck are absolutely stunning! We had a lovely meal and had a blast playing cornhole by the fire pit afterward. My daughter ordered the special: a Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was fried to perfection, topped with spicy mayo and just the right amount of pickles. The crispy seasoned fries were delicious—I couldn't stop eating them! I opted for the kale salad topped with chicken, which was also incredibly flavorful. We ended our meal with the chocolate brownie sundae drizzled with chocolate sauce and adorned with pecans (as you can tell, we made sure to finish every last bit). All the staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome. I highly recommend this spot for a relaxing afternoon treat—definitely worth the drive!

Five stars all around. Love this local joint. Think flowers and a large outdoor seating. A small menu with local eats and good live music. Only open weekends as of right now but I can't complain. It's kind of a counter service place- you order at the bar and take a number. Very friendly staff. Limited menu as of now but plenty for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. I have had the nachos and shrimp and grits. Those shrimp and grits are amazing. So creamy and perfectly seasoned and sized. The nachos are huge- big enough to share. The drinks and diverse and plentiful. Great local beer selection and a stellar liquor etc supply. They seem to be really into sake. Loving those mimosas- cranberry and grapefruit. Yum. Great for brunch.

Passing this mom pop for the past 3 years off Hwy 9 in Black Mountain. It is rustic and doesn't look like much, but do yourself a favor and STOP HERE!!! The driveway is a little rough and needs grading, but you will be so happy you went. The view and ambiance are totally worth it! Get your favorite beer or adult beverage at the bar inside or the walk-up window. Live bands on Thurs- Sun. There's a schedule on the wall. We ordered a classic burger and their special burger, which was the Bacon Swiss. The gun was nicely toasted, bacon crispy hot. There was a Pico and Avocado with crispy lettuce, Jalapeños and not so thick Swiss, which is attention to detail as it changes flavor if it's too thick. The meat was local Hickory Nut Gap, and it was not overseasoned. It was cooked perfectly. I wasn't that hungry, but I was NOT leaving a piece of this burger behind. It's a large burger well.worth the money. The fries were fragrant and crispy with a Cajun seasoning. The classic cheeseburger had the same phenomenal patty with crispy lettuce, tomato, and onion but a special sauce that I literally liked off my fingers. New favorite place for burgers!!! Clean place. The little restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Good food, service is friendly, feels like family here. Live music on the weekends after 6

An absolute must stop if in the area. Staff is friendly and place is really cute. Atmosphere is relaxed and the view is beautiful. Indoor and outdoor seating with a super casual vibe. Small menu, but food is quality and delicious and portions are generous. I had the Charleston Shrimp Rolls with tots, and they were GOOD!!! This is such a great spot to relax and enjoy some good food.
