Very nice place to explore the dead waterfall and it's history. We definitely recommend to follow the nature trail (2,3 km) which is a nice walk with beautiful scenery and informative facts about local animals and trees. Also the restaurant is recommended for good cakes and a very good coffee.
Nice walking path across the dry rapids. The path of the waterfall was changed by a snafued engineering endeavor in 1796 the lake above the fall was drained in 4 hours, 1 billion cubic meters flushed the valley below in a tsunami fashion. Incredibly noone was killed since all billages downstream were siuated at higher altitudes and the catastrophe took place in the middle of the night. However, many people died when the newly created riverbanks caved in afterwards.
Spacious with lots of outdoor seating. The waffle with strawberry jam was tasty and brewed coffee ok. There are some cakes, sandwiches, burgers and soft serve ice cream on the menu. City prices.
Nice footpaths along Rocky Valley of dead waterfall . Optional walks of one or two hours. Cafe. Burgers. Parking lot
