Ale Works - Bismarck

I had a lovely experience dining on the patio, where the music was softer than indoors. It was a Saturday afternoon, and there was only one other table occupied besides mine, which I found to be just perfect. The food was excellent, and the staff was both efficient and friendly. I ordered the Dazy, a great choice for an IPA.

I was so happy to go out to dinner for Mother's Day, and we did so Friday night before to avoid the crowd. We were promptly seated and the waiter was also very prompt and attentive. The food, however, was far too salty. So salty, in fact, that I didn't feel well later. I had the walleye and it came with a lemon wedge that was even loaded with salt and pepper.

The atmosphere downstairs, where my dad and I dined, was lovely, featuring warm wooden accents throughout. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich, which was not only creative but also so delicious that it had to be eaten with a fork. The beer cheese soup was top-notch, and my dad really enjoyed his prime rib sandwich. Overall, it’s a fantastic local spot that I highly recommend.

I'm giving it a 3 because it was a beautiful space and I didn't actually eat the food. I wanted too though and this was the second or third attempt for us to eat here, there was always a decent wait. When we arrived and after a short wait we were seated and presented with the menu. We left after viewing the menu that had 3 entrees with a bunch of sandwiches. I wanted a steak and they didn't offer one. The menu doesn't match their website as well. I may try again down the road because I like beer l and I didn't get to drink any there.

Our waitress, Alma, was fantastic! We tried the smoked wings with buffalo sauce, the Hanger Steak, the stuffed spinach and artichoke chicken, and the apple hand pie. The Hanger Steak was outstanding and cooked to perfection. However, the stuffed chicken was a bit dry and salty. The smoked wings were enjoyable, and the apple hand pie was delicious. It would have been nice to have been informed about the additional 4% charge for credit card payments. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Overall, we would definitely recommend this place and plan to return.
