Contribuiți la feedbackI don't normally buy food from train stations when traveling, but sometimes it's a must. On a Saturday morning in Brum, we reached the train station at before 8am (I know, right... on a Saturday?! to catch the 8:10 train to go to London. The normal offerings were in the station... pastries, coffee... y'know, the normal stuff; but we didn't fancy any of that. I had heard there was a Burrito place in the Station, but had never had cause to investigate before. I was literally going to go and have a nose just to get photographs and check it out; then we spotted the breakfast deal. So (as you can see from the photos Mi Casa does Bacon and Egg burritos. Perfect for when a full english is just -too much- and just enough to sate the hunger on the (admittedly, not very long journey to London. The interior is well laid out and designed to give a Mexican vibe, but not too over the top. The staff were helpful and made us feel very welcome (despite the early hour of the day . There were a few choices for breakfast, but I didn't fancy Guacamole and the other stuff so went for a straight for a plain ole' Bacon and Egg one. My partner in crime also went for this option (as sometimes, you just need a bit of B and E in the morning . I'm still not sure if it was a mistake (or if it was that we didn't want a huge burrito and tea and coffee , but we were charged around £5.10 for two. This turned out to be a much cheaper alternative to many of the other options available in the station (and a coffee can be added for £1 too . The burrito came wrapped in foil so we could still head to the platform, wait for our train and enjoy a warm breakfast at the end of it. The Tortilla was warm, the scrambled egg wasn't rubbery and the bacon was just right for me. As a convenience food option, we were very impressed! If I was travelling at an early hour (or just passing through the station when hungry , I would definately give this place another go. They had a good range of fillings and the prices didn't seem too expensive for any of the options. I would recommend the breakfast option for those who need something... but not too much.
This is my favourite burrito bar so far!! Mostly because it is a much calmer slower paced ordering environment than most other burrito bars but also because the owner/manager always seems to be there and says thank you when I leave. Service is king!! The food is good and spicy, the burritos well wrapped and there is a good range of drinks, although the cactus drinks are a bit of a let down. Convenient location to get a train picnic or a place of calm from the activity of New Street Station.
We arrived at 10:05. The people in front of us got a breakfast burrito. After serving them, they switched their signs to the lunch menu and refused to serve us breakfast. Mind you, they hadn't changed any of the food yet... Just the signs. Even when we slowly, sadly left the manager at the door didn't offer us some eggy goodness.
I'm borderline on meh for this, although service was very friendly. Firstly expensive. The breakfast burritos are a couple of quid cheaper though so my advice is to go for those if they're still being served. Secondly small. Yes I am greedy but the thing is these fast food burrito places are so ubiquitous now I am really going to notice if you are serving me something substantially smaller than at your competitors, and I'm going to feel a bit ripped off even if it is actually enough to eat. Thirdly taste. Actually pretty good, limey rice and a fresh zing of coriander not bad. Pork didn't have that much of a flavour but nor did I dislike it. Next time I will try the breakfast burrito, I think that may have a better price to taste ratio.
Catching a train and needed a sandwich. Was looking for Subway but couldn't find and by my platform saw this burrito shop. Got a take away to eat on train. Keep it short, it's ok. I've had better from elsewhere. Was a bit messy and almost ruined my jacket. Sauce was dripping and not much taste. Salsa was watery and made burrito soggy. Not a good start of the day.
