Seafood Chicken Box - Birmingham

We had heard great things about the chicken fingers and fried chicken at this restaurant, and it certainly lived up to the hype. I ordered the two-piece fried chicken breast, and I ended up taking one home because it was so generous. I also tried a chicken finger with their sweet and sour sauce, which was excellent. The cole slaw was sweet and flavorful, and the green beans were simply the best I've ever had. I learned they prepare them with olive oil, pepper, and Greek spices, which made them delicious. My husband ordered a split dish of grilled scallops and fried chicken livers, both of which he enjoyed. He also had the green beans and macaroni and cheese. He asked for brown gravy on the side for the livers, but it was just okay. The three hush puppies served with our meal were delightful. We did have to wait around 25 minutes for the fried chicken, but it was definitely worth every bite. Our sweet waitress kept our iced tea glasses filled promptly and frequently. We will definitely be back with friends soon!

The staff at this restaurant were exceptional. Several other tables came in after I did, but they handled everything seamlessly, showing no concern about the impending 9 PM closing time. I learned that since everything is made to order, chicken takes about 25 minutes to cook, and it was already 8:30. I couldn't even identify my server because the entire team worked together to ensure that all diners had what they needed—refills, cocktail sauce, salad dressing, and more. It was truly impressive and refreshing to see such attentive service along with delicious food. I ordered a half-and-half platter of fried shrimp and crab claws, accompanied by hot fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. When offered tartar and cocktail sauce, I requested extra tartar, and to my delight, I didn’t have to keep asking for it, which is often a frustration at many popular establishments. Typically, they treat tartar sauce like it's made of gold—giving you just an ounce and making you request more repeatedly throughout your meal. This often makes me feel guilty when it comes to tipping, knowing my server is being monitored for "wasting" the sauce. When my food arrived, I didn’t need to ask for anything else. The servers checked back frequently to see if anyone needed anything. I truly enjoyed both the food and the company. I also ended up ordering a chicken dinner to-go because the family I joined spoke so highly of it. I plan to return and rate the chicken then. The shrimp and crab claws had a light, flavorful batter that tasted freshly applied just before frying. The prices here were better than those at chain restaurants, and overall, I enjoyed my dinner more than any casual dining chain I've visited in years. Kudos to the team!

One of the Best Fried Chicken Spots in the South. I was lucky to grow up near Seafood Chicken Box, and I've loved it since I was a child! Here, you'll find some of the finest fried chicken in the South, and I'm not alone in this opinion. Southern Living Magazine has named Seafood Chicken Box as the South's favorite chicken place and featured it in their article "Where to Eat at the South's Best Fried Chicken Restaurants." Reflecting on it now, I can confidently say that this might still be the best fried chicken I've ever had!

Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. Everything is made to order so if you are looking for fast food not the place for you. You can get two huge breasts for $12 plus salad and a baked potato. Yum yum yum!!!!

An Infrequent Treat!. OKay, so The Seafood and Chicken Box is not exactly health food. But when I want fried chicken or fish, this is the place I go! My thirteen year old wants to eat here on his birthday because we just dont do fried chicken every day! This is, in our opinion, the best fried chicken and fish in the Birmingham area. Atmosphere? Nah. The place is clean but rather sparse on decoration. And bright fluorescent lighting is not the most appetizing or comforting. But I would eat this chicken sitting on the curb outside of the restaurant if I had to!The service is neither good nor bad. The wait staff is not a group of professional servers by any means. But the food came out in a timely manner and was piping hot. This is a bit of a drive for us, but that is probably a good thing. I would hate to see my figure if the place was down the street!
