Harry Ramsden's - Birchanger

The service was very busy but there were hardly any customers at Harry Ramsdens. I placed my order and discovered that they were only cooking to order at 1:50 pm. There was nothing in the display cabinet. Is this company policy? If I were a shareholder, I would not be happy. The batter on the fish was soggy and fell off easily, which all good fryers know is due to not letting it dry and crisp up. The fish and batter were tasteless. The chips were okay. There is a lot of potential for improvement.

On Saturday, 23rd April around 3pm, I visited a restaurant and ordered fish and chips and a scampi without chips, along with 2 drinks. The waiter told me the wait would be about 7 minutes while my order was cooked. The waiter, who appeared to be a trainee based on his badge, initially brought me fish and chips instead of just scampi. After I pointed out the mistake, he quickly corrected it. However, as I was eating, I found a hair in my chips. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, they tried to downplay the situation by denying that the staff member was a trainee and claiming that there were more staff working. Despite this, the young trainee confirmed that he had been working alone for a long time. Despite the offer of more chips, I declined and decided not to return to the restaurant due to the unsanitary conditions.

Average food. I ordered the typical breakfast and a bottle of water (no tap water option). The egg was not cooked enough, but the rest was decent. I was disappointed that they use non-recyclable takeout containers and provided wooden cutlery that was hard to chop and eat with.

Went for the full English, they do have an ultimate which is bigger and then a smaller version. Egg cooked to perfection, bacon and sausage were superb. "Black pudding ' well every time now some mentions these words I get a flashback of this breakfast. It was so so so so tasty.

Very good lunch . We had a small portion and it was plenty. The young man who served us was pleasant and had a smile throughout. His name is Daniel and he is an excellent ambassador
